IDS unveils Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity website for the 2008-2009 school year.

The men of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity at UNC Charlotte were in desperate need of a revamped website that would help organize fraternity records and history, but could also be used as a recruitment tool. When we got involved, we wanted to make sure this site not only looked exotic, but also catch the characteristics of Delta Sig.

The trick to designing a website for young college men is that it needs to be a bit edgy and fun. The sites design follows a Sahara desert/Egyptian theme, which are symbols of the national fraternity. On the homepage, a promotional flash movie rotates, helping the homepage to look different with every visit.

The design of the site was really the easiest part, as we had to figure out new ways to organize records and fraternity data. To do this, we implemented a custom content management system that allows members to update member information, photos, calendar events, awards, financial records as well as various chapter histories. The website acts like a centralized networking device for not only active members, but alumni as well. However, the site has plenty of information for non members.

Overall, as one of IDS’s largest and complex projects, this site brought along several challenges as well as a great finished product that everyone is extremely happy with.
